Iñíguez, Manuel

   Architect

   Working in partnership with Alberto Ustarroz (also born in Pamplona in 1948) Iñíguez teaches at the School of Architecture in San Sebastián, which was founded in 1977 with the mission of improving architectural practice in the region. Iñíguez and Ustarroz have made a distinguished contribution to this enterprise, which won them the first European Prize for Urban Renewal awarded by the Brussels Architectural Foundation. The regionalism displayed in their early projects has gradually been replaced by a tendency towards rationalism. Their best known work is the conversion of an old rural building into a restaurant (1980, Cordobilla, Navarre), a harmonious blend of restoration and modernization. Another notable building of theirs is the town hall at Lesaca (1987, Navarre).
